As the financial giant quickly became one of Denver's most dominant banks through the deal, it said it conducted a careful review of its workforce roles to identify overlaps.

The largest private bank headquartered in Colorado was acquired by a national name in a $4.1 billion deal earlier this year, but it was not immediately made clear what that would mean for local employees. Now, Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank has revealed that hundreds of FirstBank workers would face layoffs as it integrates the local brand under its banner.
