This newsletter will highlight Departmental updates and upcoming events across our partner agencies and offices.    - Upcoming Secretarial Events and Travel - Tuesday, 11/29 - Secretary Becerra will participate in a Prostate Cancer Roundtable discussion.  Wednesday, 11/30 - Secretary Becerra will deliver virtual remarks at the Center for Disease Control's 50th Recognition of the Ending of the Syphilis Study at Tuskegee.   Thursday, 12/1 - Secretary Becerra will participate in a fireside chat at the White House Nations Summit, and participate virtually in the Public Policy Institute of California Speakers series. Friday, 12/2 - Secretary Becerra will participate in a Prescription Drug Advocates IRA roundtable.    - Upcoming HHS IEA Events This Week - Please join the Department of Health and Human Services for the following events this week:   HHS IEA Monkeypox Briefing   Please join the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, the White House National mpox Response team, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) for a mpox briefing Thursday 12/1 at 2:00 PM EST. These briefings are held every other week. Date: Thursday, December 1 Time: 2:00 PM  Please register using this link.   Register for the briefing here. - Key Moments from HHS Last Week - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a report highlighting patients’ experience of Long COVID to better understand its complexities and drive creative responses by government leaders, clinicians, patient advocates and others. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the Maricopa Superior Court (MSC) in Maricopa County, the largest county in Arizona, has agreed to take a number of action steps to ensure that individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) are provided meaningful access to justice in its court proceedings and operations, programs and activities. The Biden-Harris Administration announced that nearly 3.4 million people nationwide have selected an Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace health plan since the start of the 2023 Marketplace Open Enrollment Period (OEP) on November 1. On November 22nd, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced a new $350 million initiative for HRSA-supported health centers to increase COVID-19 vaccines in their communities, with a specific focus on underserved populations. - Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA) - HRSA has opened applications for new fiscal year (FY) 2023 Ending the HIV Epidemic-Primary Care HIV Prevention (PCHP) funding that will expand access to HIV prevention services that decrease the risk of HIV transmission in underserved communities in support of Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. Marvin Figueroa, Director Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs U.S. Department of Health and Human Services 200 Independence Avenue, S.W.
