To adopt a Duck, go to the Duck Race Website https://www.epduckrace.org/  and select “Adopt Ducks!”

  Single Duck adoptions are $25 each

JR ELECTIONS RESULTS
The League of Women Voters-Estes Park coordinated with the Estes Park High School, The Learning Place, the Community Center, and the Estes Valley Library for Junior Elections for the town trustee election held on April 7th.  A total of 165 ballots were received from the high school and the precincts.

Kirby Nelson-Hazelton received 106 votes
Aiden Rosenau received 72 votes
Bill Brown received 70 votes
Randy Welch received 69 votes
Jamie Mieras received 66 votes
Chris Eshelman received 61 votes
One student wrote in a candidate
 
Based on current Estes Park High School enrollment, 59 percent of the student body cast votes in Junior Elections. The League of Women Voters - Estes Park is very proud of all the student voters who participated in the Junior Elections for town trustees. The League is also very appreciative of the educators in the schools, the parents, and the staff at The Learning Place, the Community Center, and the Estes Valley Library for their support of Junior Elections.

 MARCH LEARN with the LEAGUE

 On March 18 at the American Legion Hall Learn with the League hosted Larimer County solid waste professionals Alex Studee, Braden Eidem and Abby Kotecki for a presentation and discussion about Getting Rid of Waste in the Estes Valley. The presentation was recorded and is available at https://www.lwv-estespark.org/

Key topics included the construction of a new landfill site north of Wellington to replace the Taft Avenue landfill that is nearing capacity, a new central transfer center and the anticipated increase in the number of items accepted for recycling in Larimer County and hopefully in Estes Park.

 

Presenters also called attention to the rollout of the Producer Responsibility for Statewide Recycling Act (signed into law in 2022) that is managed by the nonprofit Circular Action Alliance. The Act requires producers of paper and packaging to pay for recycling services and encourages moving to more environmentally friendly materials.

 

Mark your calendars for the household hazardous waste (HHW) collection scheduled for Saturday, September 19 (9 am to 2 pm) at the Estes Park Events Complex. This is just a few weeks following Estes Recycles Day (Saturday, August 8, 9 am to noon).
