More exciting news from WaterNow’s Grant Support Help Desk! The Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART program is now accepting applications for their FY24 and FY25 Water and Energy Efficiency Grants (WEEG).

 

About the Grant

This funding opportunity is available for projects that result in quantifiable and sustained water savings, implement renewable energy components, and support broader sustainability benefits

  • This funding opportunity covers two submission periods next year:
    • Application Period 1: Due Thursday, February 22, 2024
    • Application Period 2: Due Wednesday, October 30, 2024
  • Applicants may request up to $5 million for projects which can be completed within three years.

Applicable Project Examples:

  • Landscape irrigation measures that provide water savings by reducing outdoor water usage such as turf removal, installing Smart irrigation controllers (weather or soil-moisture based), and installing high-efficiency nozzles (sprinkler heads).
  • Projects that promote installation of high-efficiency indoor appliances and fixtures to provide water savings through rebates or direct-install programs.
  • Installing end-user water service meters, such as AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) for a residential or commercial building unit.
  • Projects that increase the use of renewable energy sources in managing and delivering water and/or projects that upgrade existing water management facilities resulting in quantifiable and sustained energy generation and/or water savings.
