Travis,

For the joint study session with the Fire District Board on Friday morning, I was expecting more packet material, which better defined the strategies and objectives of the Fire District pertaining to wildland fire management and prevention. I'm not certain what specific documents the Fire District is currently using for guidance to implement this new code, which will be useful in light of the proposal in the memo that the Town consider providing staff time / funding. Hopefully we can review these documents before the meeting. I am reaching out to you in the event that you have or can provide more information in a timely manner.

Thanks,

Good morning Trustee Igel,

I will reach out to the Fire District to see if they have additional material that might be of use for the discussion.

Best,

Good afternoon Trustee Igel,

I exchanged emails with Chief Jones and Division Chief Landkamer this morning. The study session tomorrow is primarily focused on the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code (WRC) adoption, though they will plan to include a short briefing on their total wildfire risk reduction program and how the WRC fits into it as part of their staff presentation. They've asked that I share the following links with the Trustees in case any of you are looking for more information on where this code came from (copying the Board here for that purpose):

Additionally, I spoke to Director Carrecia who shared that the statement in the report regarding the need for additional staff time and funding was meant to be a general statement to convey that building staff/SAFEbuilt will likely need to devote additional time to the review of new plans and potential new permits associated with the draft Wildfire Resiliency Code's structure hardening requirements (not the need for the Town to fund any new programs or services offered by the Town or Fire District). At this point, we are unsure as to what effect the new code will have on plan review timing and fees, but we wanted to acknowledge this potential in the report for discussion purposes.

Best,

TM
