USA 250th Anniversary

Mayor Gary,

I have a couple of questions regarding our nation's 250th anniversary and Colorado's 150th.

The Legion is establishing a committee to put together a plan to celebrate these anniversaries and wondering if the Town had thoughts on what they want to do and/or if they would partner with us in planning. At this point we are thinking of educational and/or entertaining things (history, citizenship type) at the Legion, and involving, if they want, the schools, League of Women's Voters, etc. I anticipate starting these opportunities in April or May, culminating in a big celebration on July 4.

The next item is we are having a GALA on July 2 at the Legion and want to formally invite you. Big picture, it's designed as a semi-formal celebration/fundraiser for the Foundation with a schedule that looks something like this;

5:30 – 6:30    Drinks, Mingling, Appetizers, Silent Auction in Tavern Area

6:30 – 7:30    Dinner in Main Hall

7:30 – 8:00 

Comments: weaving Legion achievements into theme of community, God and Country. Silent Auction winners.

8:00 – 10:00  Dancing/Mingling.  Kings of Swing Big Band

Thanks, Dan, yes, I'm honored to be invited for the July 2 event. On July 4, I'm typically paying music at one or two venues and so it is unlikely I'd be available unless early for the July 4 event. I will touch base with Rob Hinkle and Travis in regard to other planning or actions considered by the Town, including partnering potential, so more on that ater. Thanks!
