Hi all!
Thank you so very much for all you do and for signing onto our pro-public lands letter. We finalized the letter this morning with 311(!) western local elected officials signing on.

More herehttps://www.themountainpact.org/publiclandssupportletter2025 and the final letter and media release are attached.

I just sent the letter to congressional offices and Secretary of Interior Doug Burgum's staff.

I will send the letter and release, with quotes from 35 of you, to national, regional, and some local/state media next.

If you have a few moments, we'd love your help getting the word out. Here are ways you can help:

1. Please reach out to your congressional offices with the letter - Let me know if you need contact information. Please ask them to read the letter, media release, and ask that they (add to this as you'd like, of course and adapt by office): "Protect our parks, national monuments, public lands, and oppose any public lands transfers in the reconciliation package."
  • Let me know if you'd like more detailed talking points (feel free to use the text and facts included in the letter and release).
  • If you have meetings with offices, please include mention of the letter and give it to them during those meetings.
  • Please let me know if you learn anything from your outreach and in meetings!

2. Please send the attached release and letter to your media contacts.

3. Please consider amplifying the letter on social media.

Here is a full toolkit and below are some of the sample social posts (videos would be very helpful, if you are open to them).

  • I and over 300 Western elected officials are urging [YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS] and @Interior for a more balanced approach to the management of our #publiclands and to reject attempts to change the Antiquities Act or reduce the size of our national monuments. https://bit.ly/TMPLTR25
  • Public lands are the backbone of [COMMUNITY]. By gutting our public land agencies, Trump is putting our most cherished spaces at risk. We need leaders who will fight to protect our #publiclands. That’s why I signed on with 300+ of my colleagues: https://bit.ly/TMPLTR25
  • [COMMUNITY] relies on safe and healthy #publiclands, but Trump’s cuts to the @forestservice and @BLM put us at risk for potentially devastating wildfires. We need full funding for America’s public land agencies so [COMMUNITY] can remain safe. That’s why I signed this letter - https://bit.ly/TMPLTR25

  • In [COMMUNITY], we cherish our public lands for the amazing scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities, as well as for the resources they provide and the economic benefits they bring to our region. I’m proud to join @TheMountainPact and over 300 of my fellow local elected officials from across the West in pushing back against the Trump Administration’s attacks on our public lands. I urge President Trump to reverse course and restore the critical staff and resources that keep our public lands healthy, safe, and accessible. Full letter: https://www.themountainpact.org/publiclandssupportletter2025
  • National monuments like [MONUMENT] power our outdoor recreation economy and give our residents amazing opportunities to enjoy nature. They also help us sustain critical water resources and help our families and local businesses thrive. I’m joining @TheMountainPact and more than 300 other local elected officials in standing up for our national monuments and urging President Trump to refrain from shrinking our altering national monument boundaries so our kids and our grandkids can enjoy these national treasures for generations to come. Hi all,
I hope you are doing well. As we look ahead to possible executive actions on national monuments (maybe this week), I wanted to check-in to ask for help with some things.

1. Are you open to doing interviews with the press? Please let me know.

2. As you have in-district and meetings, please be sure to lift up and give members a copy of the letter. It's attached again, along with the release.

3. Are you interested in doing an opinion piece? Let me know.

4. We have pro-public lands draft resolution language in case that's of interest.

Below is some of the recent media coverage - please share on social (videos would be amazing). Here is sample social and a video script.
Thank you!
Anna
