Dear APA Colorado Members,
Are you passionate about great ideas, bold conversations, and bringing planners together from across the state? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the Planning Committee for the 2026 Colorado Planning Conference, and we’d love for you to be part of it!
This is your opportunity to help shape the program, influence the experience, and contribute to an event that energizes and connects Colorado’s planning community.
Time Commitment
The committee meets virtually on a bi-weekly basis for 30–60 minutes. In addition to meetings, members should anticipate approximately 1–3 hours of work between meetings, depending on the time of year and specific assignments. During peak periods, time commitment may increase temporarily.
We value active participation and collaboration. Your ideas, follow-through, and creativity truly make a difference.
What You’ll Help Shape
Program & Content Development
- Recommend keynote speakers
- Ensure diversity in speakers, geographies, sectors, and perspectives
- Identify gaps in content and suggest solutions
- Identify potential mobile tour sites and hosts
- Assist with mobile tour planning
Theme & Attendee Experience
- Contribute ideas for branding, messaging, and tone
- Help align session tracks and keynote selection with the conference theme
- Provide input on the overall attendee experience
Sponsorship & Partnerships
- Identify potential sponsors and exhibitors
- Make introductions to partner organizations
- Advise on sponsor engagement strategies
- Provide feedback on exhibit layout
Marketing & Outreach
- Promote the Call for Proposals and registration within your networks
- Assist with targeted outreach to underrepresented communities
- Serve as a conference ambassador or provide testimonials
- Share content through social media and professional channels
- Recommend outreach strategies to students and emerging professionals
Reception & Special Events
- Advise on social events and networking formats
- Brainstorm creative attendee engagement activities
- Assist with reception planning (venue, food and beverage, activities, etc.)
Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility
- Help ensure the conference is welcoming and accessible
- Review session content for inclusive representation
- Recommend accessibility considerations
- Advise on inclusive programming strategies
- Expand outreach to historically underrepresented planners
On-Site Support
- Serve as a mobile tour welcome host (as needed)
- Support speaker coordination
