ES ADVISING IS HERE TO HELP!

If you need ES Advising assistance first try our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for answers to many common questions. Students are also welcome to:

·      Email questions to advi...@es.ucsb.edu and we will do our best to respond as soon as possible (normally 1-2 business days).

·      Schedule a remote Zoom appointment with an ES advisor using the Schedule Appointment link on the ES Advising webpage. Appointments are generally available M-R 9:00-11:45am and 3:00-4:00pm, and all-day Friday.

·      Or, come to our Drop-in Office Hours in Bren Hall 4312 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1-3pm.

CONTENT:

    with travel experiences relating to attending/presenting at scientific conferences, 
    visiting graduate school programs, or group visits to job shadow at a company!

 

Please share with undergrads that are interested in travel experiences relating to attending/presenting at scientific conferences, visiting graduate school programs, or group visits to job shadow at a company. Selected students will be eligible for up to $1,200!

 

Eligibility: 

Currently enrolled full-time UCSB undergraduate STEM majors

US Citizen or permanent residents

Priority will be given to undergraduate students who are Federal Pell Grant eligible

Applications will be reviewed at the beginning of each month for travel or experience dates through May 31, 2026.

3)  AS Zero Waste Committee Zero Waste Festival Sign Up

 

Looking to get some volunteer hours? Come help out at the AS Zero Waste Committee’s Zero Waste Festival on April 11th. Help with setup and breakdown or contribute to our Fix-it Fair by helping to fix clothing, jewelry, instruments, surfboards, wetsuits, or more. You do not have to be a professional and any skill level is helpful! Come help reduce waste and help your community.

4)  Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at Santa Barbara’s Earth Day Festival!

 

Volunteers are the backbone of Earth Day - assisting with vendor check in, greeting guests, conducting crowd counts, working in Community Environmental Council’s Green Car Show and helping with children’s activities. Volunteers also assist with stage management, social media, beer garden, and supporting our ‘Zero Waste Team’ to ensure that our Earth Day Festival produces as little waste as possible. Please join us at Alameda Park. Volunteer shifts are three hours each and you may sign up for as many as you would like. Invite your friends to join you!

Curious about environmental careers?  Want to connect with local environmental employers?  The UCSB Environmental Employer Showcase and Networking Event is for you!

 

You are invited to participate in the first UCSB Environmental Employer Showcase and Networking Event, hosted by the Greti U. Croft Center for Undergraduate Environmental Leadership (CUEL) to showcase diverse environmental careers to motivated UCSB students! 

 

Tuesday, April 7 - Drop in any time between 12 and 2 pm at the Lagoon Plaza (Outside of Corwin Pavilion)

What is it?

This is an exciting opportunity to learn about and explore environmental careers and organizations. You will engage with local environmental professionals from diverse sectors and backgrounds. This is a networking event, so come as you are and get inspired by a diverse range of environmental careers.  This is not a career fair; however, some of these employers may actually be hiring!

6)  Volunteers Needed: 29th Annual Fish Derby at the Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake

 

I’m reaching out because we are looking for volunteers to help us during the 29th Annual Fish Derby taking place on Friday April 17 - Sunday April 19 at the Cachuma Lake Campgrounds. The Executive Director, Julie McDonald, mentioned that you’ve helped us find volunteers in the past by posting our needs on List Serve. Would you be able to do that for us again, please? 

 

Here are our specific volunteer needs: 

Friday April 17 from 10am - 10pm: setup, prep prizes, registration, raffle ticket sales and t-shirt sales 

 

Saturday April 18 from 8am - 8pm: weigh station, registration, raffle sales, ticket sales, and kids activities (from 10:30am-1:30pm)

 

Sunday April 19 from 8am - 4pm: weigh station, raffle and ticket sales, program set up, program break down

 

All of our Derby volunteers are invited to a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Saturday April 19 at 6pm at the Nature Center.

7)  MOVE Santa Barbara County is looking for volunteers for our education program! We are a local nonprofit focused on empowering, educating and advocating for people who walk, bike and take public transit.

The Associated Students Department of Public Worms turns food waste into compost to be used to grow fresh produce for fellow students at the University of California, Santa Barbara, thus creating a closed-loop food system on campus. We practice and promote sustainable agriculture techniques while educating the community about the importance of composting and gardening
