1)  WARNING:  Winter Pass #1 Registration Restriction limiting access to add ES courses to Declared ES and HYDRO majors only. If you’re not officially declared an ES major in GOLD, you will have to wait till Pass #2. The only exception is ENVS 3.

This is done to assure all declared ES majors have priority access to the ES classes they need to assure they graduate in a timely manner.  Starting Pass #2 all ES courses will open up to all majors and as long as there’s still open seats and one meets the course prerequisites, they can add ES courses then.

To learn more about how to officially declare ES or HYDRO as your official major visit the ES Webpage Declaring the ES major here.  It contains all the requirements, qualifications, and procedure to declare ES as your major – which is done 100% online. Just follow the directions on this website and it can take up to a week to declare a single major and 2-3 weeks to have a double major request processed.

If you have questions about declaring ES as your major please contact the ES Advising team here.

🌿 What We Do

Field Trip Program: NatureTrack leads K–12 students in guided outdoor experiences that build a deeper connection to the natural world while aligning with school science standards. We follow the students’ innate curiosity to create field trips that are both fun and effective,  building confidence and environmental awareness in an atmosphere of exploration. When volunteering with NatureTrack, you will be with an experienced NatureTrack volunteer, encouraging the students in your group to explore the mysteries they discover. Watch the video to see a preview of a NatureTrack Field Trip.  Freedom Trax Accessibility Events and Program: NatureTrack hosts events featuring Freedom Trax, a mobility device that converts manual wheelchairs into electric, all-terrain machines. This makes beaches and trails more accessible, allowing wheelchair users and their families to explore nature in a new way. Watch the video on this page to see the impact in action!

Many of us at Isla Vista NatureTrack (IVNT) say these experiences are among the most rewarding of our college years—and we’d love to share them with you.

Trips are throughout SB County but ridesharing can always be arranged, just reach out anytime you need one!

Our organization represents local agencies certified by the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA) as Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs). Our member agencies regulate facilities with hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks and underground storage tanks throughout the State.

Every year, the California CUPA Forum, with our partner State agencies, hosts the Annual CUPA Training Conference. Our last in-person conference had over 3,000 professionals.

The CUPA Conference Student Committee would like to extend an invitation to all full-time students who may be interested in a career path in the field of hazardous materials to attend.

This opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate candidates. We hope your students will be interested and take the opportunity to experience a conference where they can meet and interact with professionals currently employed in the hazardous materials regulatory programs. If a student is interested, we will pair them with a mentor at the conference.

Applications are due 2/23/2026 or until full.

Students may apply online at https://calcupa.org/conference/students.html

In addition, we are offering a free shared “university/college” booth for interested institutions to bring pamphlets or information relative to educational opportunities for our attendees.  If you desire, for a fee, you may also purchase your own booth at www.calcupa.org

10)  Multiple Opportunities and Sharing 3C-REN (Tri-County Regional Energy Network) Events Calendar: Fall 2025

I’d like to share our 3C-REN (Tri-County Regional Energy Network) 2025 Fall Events Calendar Flyer for October through December events. We have some great trainings and events lined up for local building, real estate, design, and construction industries.

I’d also like to invite you to register for the Regional Forum, Preparing Buildings for Wildfire Resiliency in 2025 and Beyond, on November 4th in Santa Barbara. Come learn from a diverse panel of experts exploring perspectives on recent wildfire rebuilding efforts, strategies to strengthen building wildfire resiliency, and recently adopted code updates. After the forum, join us for a special tour of the County of Santa Barbara Emergency Operations Center & Regional Fire Communications Center which is the first building in Santa Barbara to achieve net zero energy status.

Highlighting another in-person event, a happy hour in Santa Barbara focused on Renewable Energy, Energy Storage and Resiliency on October 28th.

Lastly, we have several hands-on opportunities to learn about heat pump water heater installation. SunWork is hosting live installs in October (complete an interest form), and several supply house training events are planned for December.
