Míyaxwen! Greetings!

The American Indian & Indigenous Collective (AIIC) would like to share a reminder that the AIIC will be hosting our 13th Annual Symposium this weekend, Friday Feburary 27th to Sunday, March 1st.

The symposium is open to all, and we welcome students, faculty, staff, and community members to attend and be in community with us.

This year's Symposium, Braided Knowledges: Blending Ways of Knowing for Environmental Resiliencecenters Indigenous knowledge systems, community-engaged scholarship, and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental resilience.

The program will feature keynote addresses from Irene Vasquez (Southern Sierra Miwuk), a Cultural Biologist at Yosemite specializing in Tribal-led ecological restoration, and Paulette Blanchard (Absentee Shawnee Citizen & Kickapoo descendant), a Geographer focused on Indigenous climate justice and community-engaged science.

To kick off the weekend, a community dinner on Friday, February 27, at 5 pm will be held at the AIIC Center (Building 434, Room 107, right next to CAPS).

Programming will continue Saturday, February 28 to Sunday, March 1st in the Bren Hall Colloquium Room (Bren Hall 1414), from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

Additional details, including the full agenda and speaker information, are found on the symposium website.

Light breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided throughout the weekend. Registration in advance is encouraged, but same-day registration will be available.

We hope you will join us for this important gathering that honors braided ways of knowing and advances conversations on environmental resilience grounded in Indigenous perspectives. See you this weekend!
