Dear Students,

Wildlands Studies, a popular Environmental Field Studies program with UCSB and ES students, has a few final spaces available on our spring programs in Nepal and French Polynesia, and enrollment is open with space available on all programs for summer and fall 2026, as well as winter and spring 2027. This is a great window for students to apply.

We are pleased to offer several new and returning programs this year, including a unique new Indonesia Islands program this summer, a Fall 2026 new Thailand program focused on human–elephant relationships, and our long-standing Belize program, now offered winter 2027.

Please see below for more info.

Stories From The Field

This past fall, our Outreach Manager and WS Thailand alum of 2014, Erisy Watt, spent several days with the New Zealand program in Fiordland National Park.

During the visit, she joined the group on the Milford Sound cruise, hiked to glacier-fed lakes, and attended lectures and heard students present their final research projects.

After nearly a decade in leadership roles with Wildlands Studies programs, spending time with the group in the field was a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of immersive, field-based learning. She was so happy to meet such a passionate and engaged group of students!
