This event will consist of three sessions, each highlighting seven 5-minute presentations. There are twenty-one projects in total, each focusing on influencing pro-environmental behaviors. Each session will have a 10-minute Q&A for all session presenters. We hope you will join us in congratulating the 2026 ELI cohort on their completion of the ELI program.

7) Multiple PAID UCSB
Sustainability Internships Available for Next Year.
*** STARS Data Collection and Analysis Internship
Job #11074244 under UCSB Sustainability in Handshake
We are seeking two student interns to manage a data collection process on campus sustainability efforts as well as to collect, assess, and summarize the data. The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System™ (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities used to measure their sustainability performance. UCSB Sustainability seeks a student to collect data on courses and research related to sustainability and student programming. 838 colleges and universities have registered for STARS. Complete reports can be found here.
*** Bike Storage, Pilot Program Intern
Job #11074250 under UCSB Sustainability in Handshake
The Sustainability Internships and Community
Resources
Department seeks a student intern to expand bike storage options
on campus and
market existing bike storage options. We recently received a
grant from
the Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) to support this effort.
We have surveyed students, staff and faculty in a variety of
ways and we
consistently hear that there is not enough secure bike storage
on campus and
that if there were more storage, they would be more likely to
bike to campus
(especially among long distance commuters). We also found that
existing
bike lockers are underutilized and many people are not aware of
this
resource. We hope to address this by developing a promotion
campaign to
highlight the bike lockers.
Many other campuses have found success with bike “cages”. These
are
larger storage enclosures that can accommodate many more bikes
in a small area
while being more secure than an open bike rack. The intern will
help us
to develop a feasibility proposal for putting in bike cages on
campus, will
seek feedback on the proposal from key stakeholders, and will
raise money to
pilot the initiative.
