Join us tomorrow, August 16th for our annual MLA Lake Cleanup Day & Picnic!
Cleanup will take place from 9am-noon, followed by a picnic at Lakeside Park noon-1pm.
This event is back by popular demand! When we surveyed MLA members last year, we heard that many people would like a late-summer gathering like the ones we used to have.
We’ll gather at Lakeside Park at noon, admire the trash collection, and enjoy lunch and good company. The MLA will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, water, and lemonade. Please bring a dish or dessert to share. Vehicle parking spaces at the park are limited, although canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards can pull right in from the water.
This event will be open to the community, so invite your family, neighbors, and friends. Let’s catch up with each other one more time before the summer ends!
ADDITIONAL INFO:
Equipment: You can pick up bags at Lakeside Park starting at 9:00 am. We recommend wearing water shoes and gloves. A kayak or canoe to collect things can also help.
Locations: Sites to focus on include the two boat launches, Beaver Point, and the embankments on both sides of the bridge (for those able to scramble on the rocks).
If you live on the lake, you can also clean an area near your own property or choose another place you think needs attention.
Big stuff: If you locate a large object in the water that needs removal with a pontoon boat and diver, let us know via
m...@mascomalakeassociation.org. We have red foam markers to use if the object needs to be marked for the boat crew. We will use the SS Milfoil for this. We have already begun getting big stuff out, so let us know anytime if you’ve found something.
Awards: We’ll give prizes for the weirdest objects found in the lake. Can you top the Bat Castle or the scary doll head?
RSVP: Please let us know if you plan to participate on August 16. Send a message to
m...@mascomalakeassociation.org indicating the location where you want to help.
