During my preride packing frenzy/panic, I discovered that my tube of goober glue has dried out and hardened. I will not be able to order anything online and have it arrive in time for the ride.  Easycare now recommends Sikaflex rather than goober glue. On various booting sites, sikaflex has been referred to as either sikaflex or sikaflex 227. My local hardware store carries sikaflex 1a.  Sikaflex 1a and sikaflex 227 have similar descriptions online. Does anyone know if Sikaflex 1a is the same as sikaflex 227 ?

Hello Joanna,

The major difference is in the curing time.
The 227 gets tacky and starts to cure in 30 minutes and takes 24-48 hours for complete cure.
The 1A takes 4 hours to get tacky and starts to cure and takes 4-7 days for complete cure.
The 201 takes 2-4 hours to get tacky and start to cure.
The 291 takes 3-5 hours to get tacky and start to cure.
The 221 takes 60 min to get tacky and start to cure.

Looks like 221 would be the best 2nd choice.

I understand that Sikaflex 227 is used for attaching windshields on cars.  Perhaps you would find it at auto-parts stores.  Or you could call up your local windshield outfit and perhaps they can sell you a tube.  Good luck.
