I hurchased a Reactor Panel VSD Summit for my horse this fall and have been using it with the fleece booties. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using a regular wool pad (+/- inserts - I bought it when I bought my treeless saddle years ago), a haf pad, or an Equipedic pad. I like the booties but would like a backup in case I go to a multiday ride and get them yucked up. I have been advised to use a Skito pad, but hate to buy another expensive pad when I already own so many, if one of those many would work....
Any experiences would be greatly appreciated....

We have used flexible panel saddles (various Ortho-Flex models) since 1991.
From the illustrations in the RP website their system seems similar. During
this whole time we have put an old fashioned wool saddle blanket between the
horse and the booties. The only complication we have found is that
sometimes the blanket will shift around. We then discovered the soft mesh
plastic drawer liners sold by various big box stores for kitchen drawers. A
similar, and a bit longer lasting product is sold at auto parts stores, like
NAPA, to mechanics to line tool box drawers. A piece of this between the
blanket and the bootie stops slipping.
We wash the blankets frequently, and the booties once a year whether they
need it or not. With a supply of blankets, we are set for multiday rides.
I think we have worn out one or two sets of booties the whole time.

Respect ALL Earthlings. We are all animals of this planet. We are all creatures.
For therapeutic use or for a horse where the saddle really moves, people really like the Skito Dryback insert pads under RPs. Some use the longer version to ride under a cantle bag. I know they're spendy. Some people like Equipedics and Supracors, but you're not really saving money there.
