I'm interested in any feedback too... I haven't used it but am tempted to.
Jim, you may want to ask on the barefoot endurance group as well... there is
one person on that list who's definitely a fan, but I'm interested in other
feedback.

on and sprinkled fine sand on it as it was drying. Did a pretty good job.
Easier than getting out the heat/blow dryer to cure the Hoof Armor.
Christy, with the SuperFast, did you coat the sole and wall rim? Just one coat or more than one? I’m fascinated! I have a few rehabs that this could really help with.

I couldn't get it to hold up for more than a couple of days on our "abrasive"
ground (almost entirely DG)...and this was on horses that weren't being ridden,
just turned out to live on the abrasive ground.
I had one horse that it held up for about a week...but he was in a 24'x48' stall
instead of a large paddock turnout.
I tried it on different horses with slightly different application techniques
until the tube ran out, and then quit trying.

Hi Christy,
I’ve kept glue-ons glued on for 4 to 5 weeks at a time, and it’s a good tool for some rehab situations, but I haven’t found it to be ideal. The sole and walls seem to get softer. That’s my impression only, but I’ve done it on several horses and at this point, I wouldn’t do it on my own horse.
What you might want to try instead is casting the hoof in 3M casting tape with a rim of Super Fast to help keep the cast from wearing. The casting material is permeable so it breathes, and is flexible enough that the hoof can still expand and contract. The Super Fast epoxy is durable, and you should be able to ride in them on soft terrain, but I boot over the casts for distance training or riding on abrasive surfaces.
Diet is extremely important for building strong walls, sole and getting frogs healthy, and I usually see a significant improvement in 6 to 8 weeks.

Subject: RE: [RC] Sole Guard -
didn't hold up!
Well....... we were out for 5 hours and the Sole Guard did not make it :( We only went 15-18 miles?
My friend and I switched to a Pete Ramey natural trimmer 2 days ago named Blaine St. Peter http://www.owlcanyonhoofrehab.com He does endurance horses around here (Fort Collins, CO area). He fitted my TB with gloves for his back feet (size 1.5) and ok'd my size 2 Bares on his fronts.
We also had a serious discussion about feed choices. I have been supplementing with senior feed... bad bad bad! The sugars have been breaking down the hoof and that's why his feet have steadily worsened since January (his trims weren't helping either). It's the only real change I made in his feed. In addition to pasture 10 hours a day, he is now getting soaked alfalfa cubes for calcium and ADM stay strong. I know other people who swear by the ADM Stay Strong - so I had some other references.
After next trim I may glue on gloves and keep them on for 4-5 weeks. With the copper goo stuff that goes in the boot to prevent bacteria, he says the foot comes out of the boot really beautiful. I am riding with comfort pads in the front boots because he has no foot! It can't get much worse..... dam. I never thought sugar in the hind gut would break down the lamini like it has - but there's no other explanation.
I will let you know how it goes with the boots on the backs. He changed the shapes of B's feet quite a bit. Natural trims are not equal! VERY different from my other seemingly very educated and successful trimmer (Casey LaPierre style). But then... her clients don't really 'ride' their horses - not like you endurance people!

I am really happy with my Easy Bares on the front. Applied Sole Guard tonight for the first time on back feet. Have 15 miles+ of trail riding tomorrow. Crossing my fingers the sole guard will hang in there on the back feet. My guy does not have much concavity.
Sole guard seems to offer more protection than hoof armor if it will stay on!
pain in the arse
I had to learn to rasp my own horse to keep his feet nice for the boots. Sure is making a wonderful difference! What next?! This is alot of work!

I worried about using superfast too, because it us hard.
Sole guard peels off fast around here. I may give the Hoof Armor a try, see if it works.
There is definitely room for a new product here!

I'm not so sure it was superfast she used now. when i went to purchase it, the farrier store owner said NO WAY use it on the sole because it's TOO hard. So I bought something else that dried rubbery (kinda clear) and it came off the next day. Sigh. Thinking about trying sole guard next.
are you having any luck?
i only need it for back feet - i use easyboots on front
maybe i'll just go back to hoof armor
