| Does anyone know of any good material to use under trailer floor rubber mats to give the horse a softer ride? I called some of the trailer sales and they have some but very expensive and costly to ship. It was mentioned to me that Home Depot might have something, so just wondering if anyone has tried it. Suggestions greatly appreciated. |

The pads have a jigsaw edge that allows you to connect one pad to another to cover a space as large as you wish. They are easily trimmed to fit via a box cutter.
I laid the fatigue pads directly on top of the trailer floor boards, then put rubber "dog run" matting on top. The dog run matting is thinner and less weight than equine stall matting, but is just as tough and resiliant to shod horses, staying in place even with horses that shift, move, or paw.
My personal experience with my ponies has been that they seem FAR more relaxed traveling and standing in the trailer with the fatigue padding under the floor mats. The padding also seems to act as a sound reducer for road noise (in the few times I've been in the trailer while it was moving). No problem keeping the trailer clean either - the padding's jigsaw edges allow liquids to seep through so there is no accumulation of fliuds on the floor, plus the pads are so lightweight they are easy to lift out if one wants to inspect the floor boards.
