Does anyone have a cure for itchy skin on a horse?  It being either topical or something to feed them?  Kelley (Driftwood, TX)

Process of elimination start with feed, weather, fly spray...might be allergic to it. Get a blood plate done...this will be the telling issue.

Four years ago I purchased a horse that itched constantly. He also had a few patches of flakey skin. Nothing showed up from vet visit( and of course he had no flakey patches at that time) I fed him ground flax, it took over two years but he's better now.

Kentucky equine research has a fish oil supplement so Horse. The delivery of omega-3 is much much better with that than flax seed which is what I used to use. You can go to their website and look at the actual research. My horses took to it almost immediately. The research is so strong that it has turned around the usual protocol of not feeding animal products to herbivores and in this case they found the delivery is so powerful and there are no side effects such as mad horse disease lol.... that KER devlopef this product

Yes, to start I wasn't consistent and his itching would come and go, it did take a daily dose for several months to finally help him.
