I discovered Mounted Games for the first time, when Endurance.net went to New Zealand's "Horse of the Year" multi-discipline competition in 2007, which included an endurance ride. one of the sports was Mounted Games. it was SO MUCH FUN to watch! Here's a good video showing some Mounted Games fun. The games I watched had even younger kids competing.

Merri, thank you for putting this video on ridecamp--very exciting, must have been for the photographers, too:)  As a teenager I rode in gymkhanas which were kindergarten compared to the NZ mounted games.
