Arthritis UK are trying to develop a consistent approach to tracking the work of our consortia.

Centres and Consortia are often involved in research studies in a limited way, funded by other direct funding, but under the umbrella of the larger grant. We are proposing including a 'Corporate' or 'Group' authorship for these awards, similar to how we have done it with our CLUSTER Consortium.

When I have searched for CLUSTER Consortium in EPMC it doesn't show them as an author in the search (they have 12 publications at the time of writing), but when I do the same search in PubMed it does show them.

Consistency on this could help us to track our impact through EMPC without the need for further reporting from the award holder, reducing the burden on them.

Is this some functionality which could be included in EMPC. Searches provided below for reference:

Here’s the search in PMC: CLUSTER Consortium[Corporate Author] - Search Results - PubMed

Here’s the search in EPMC: "CLUSTER Consortium"[Corporate Author] - Search results - Europe PMC – with inverted commas, otherwise it pulls up 1,213 publications.

If this is already possible to search for group authors, is anyone able to explain how I could search for this ‘Cluster Consortium’?

Many thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the question. EuropePMC does support searching for records by an author collective (group or corporate) using the AUTH_COLLECTIVE_LIST field.
Example: AUTH_COLLECTIVE_LIST:"Cluster Consortium"

Europe PMC also provides an INVESTIGATOR field, which can be be combined with the author collective field to find publications involving an individual investigator (collaborator) participating in an author collective.

We will be adding documentation for these fields to our search syntax page soon, as part of ongoing updates.

Hope this helps. Please reach out if you have further queries.

Kind regards,
Madhu
