Hello,

I downloaded PMC8329522 or PubMed 34401048 using the URL below.

When looking at the metadata section at the beginning of the XML under the tag <article-meta> there is no entry for the PubMed ID. See copied section below.

<article-meta>
<article-id pub-id-type="pmcid">8329522</article-id>
<article-id pub-id-type="pii">S2001-0370(21)00305-6</article-id>
<article-id pub-id-type="doi">10.1016/j.csbj.2021.07.015</article-id>

The corresponding full-text in BioC format was pulled from this URL:

It does contain the PubMed ID

<infon key="article-id_doi">10.1016/j.csbj.2021.07.015</infon>
<infon key="article-id_pii">S2001-0370(21)00305-6</infon>
<infon key="article-id_pmc">8329522</infon>
<infon key="article-id_pmid">34401048</infon>

When did the PubMed ID get lost? Are there other articles?

Thanks

Melanie

Hi Melanie,

The PubMed ID is missing in the full-text XML that we received from NCBI as it was assigned to the article after the XML creation.
This is a rare occurrence and affects a very small portion of our full-text articles.

You can access all the PMC ID - PubMed ID mappings including the ones that are not in the full-text XML from the PMID_PMCID_DOI.csv.gz file available here:
https://europepmc.org/pub/databases/pmc/DOI/

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Yours sincerely,
Islam Hassan
