Dear Europe PMC webservice users,

We are excited to announce a new release that brings preprints to the content family of Europe PMC. Preprints are research articles that have not undergone formal peer review. Using Europe PMC Articles API you can access metadata, including the abstract and full text DOI, for over 37,000 preprints. To distinguish preprints from peer reviewed articles, each preprint is given a PPR ID, which allows you to specifically retrieve preprints using (SRC:PPR) syntax. Preprints are cross-linked to the published article, and you can explore these cross-links using HAS_PREPRINT:Y and HAS_PUBLISHED_VERSION:Y queries. Preprints are included in Europe PMC text-mining pipeline, so you will able to retrieve text-mined annotations for preprints as well as published articles via the Annotations API.

You can find more information about this release here: http://bit.ly/EuropePMC_preprints. If you have any further questions, please post them in this group.

Best wishes,
Europe PMC team
