New data citations types added to Europe PMC

Dear all,

We are happy to announce that data citations for 5 new data resources are now discoverable in Europe PMC and can be retrieved using the Annotations API. This includes data accessions for:

• predictions of protein structure from AlphaFold; 

• biochemical transformations and transport reactions from Rhea; 

• cell lines from Cellosaurus; 

• enzyme information from BRENDA; 

• biological images in BioImage Archive. 

Here is an example request URL to retrieve Cellosaurus cell line identifiers cited in the Methods section:

Europe PMC tracks data citations for over 50 life science resources. Data accessions are identified in abstracts and open access full text of journal articles and preprints using dictionary-based text-mining with an additional validation step. 

To find publications citing specific datasets or data type use the following search:

ACCESSION_TYPE:resource_name

ACCESSION_ID:data_accession
