Update on UNAVCO change to EarthScope

Hello Teaching Geodesy Interest Group

I wanted to update you on some changes. You may notice that my email signature below has changed from UNAVCO to EarthScope Consortium. UNAVCO, which had been running the National Science Foundation’s Geodetic Facility for the Advancement of Geoscience (GAGE) for many years, has merged with IRIS, which ran the Seismological Facility for the Advancement of Geoscience (SAGE).

Now the new EarthScope Consortium is running both facilities (since Jan 1).

We decided to rename this email list — Teaching Geophysics Interest Group (teaching-...@earthscope.org). I promise this will not greatly increase the email traffic but announcements may now also include educational resources and opportunities related to seismology and other aligned geophysics disciplines.

For instance, you have been hearing from me for years about the GEodesy Tools for Societal Issues (GETSI) project. I would also like to make sure you are aware of:

• Introducing Geophysics for Urban and Near-Surface Applications (IGUaNA) - which has field teaching modules related to GPS, resistivity, multichannel seismic systems (and later this year, gravimetry)
• There are also many excellent resources related to earthquakes, seismology, and more on the SAGE InClass site
