Are you looking to develop scientific computing skills while exploring the field of seismology?This FREE introductory level workshop, now in its sixth year, seeks to increase your...• Knowledge, skills, and interest in seismology and scientific computing,• Self-efficacy in using seismic data, and• Competitiveness in the application process for graduate school, summer internships, or professional jobs.
The geophysics skills developed in this workshop help prepare you for graduate school and rewarding careers across a range of career sectors including the federal & state governments, oil and gas, research institutes, national labs, environmental services, academia, etc.
Who: Undergraduates, graduate students, recent graduates, anyone open to learning scientific computing with a seismology focusWhen: June 9 to August 31, 2025.Where: The workshop is offered online only.How: Based on previous years, most students invest approximately 5-6 hours per week to participate in (or watch) the weekly webinar and complete assignments.What: At the end of the workshop participants will receive a performance report/certificate via email.
The Seismology Skill Building Workshop is offered by the EarthScope Consortium (formerly IRIS) and Miami University of Ohio.
