Under the general supervision of the Supervising Engineering Geologist of the Earthquake Engineering Program, the Field Operations Manager uses seismic instrumentation and communication
engineering principles to oversee and coordinate the Field Operations Unit in the installation of strong motion instruments at sites throughout the State. This position is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the instruments in the strong
motion network and management of the field operations work in projects associated with contracts through Interagency/Departmental and other Agreements.

Working Conditions
This position is located in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and be able to satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. The hybrid telework schedule will allow for up to three days of remote work per week depending on department needs.

In addition to the daily analysis and evaluation of strong-motion data in response to earthquakes, the incumbent will be involved in the development and maintenance of seismological tools and applications to facilitate the collection, processing, and dissemination of strong-motion data from CSMIP’s real-time and triggered systems.
