The UA Little Rock Geology Program invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Geology (9 month) starting for the Fall 2026 academic term. The position will be in the Geology Program within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Our program is dedicated to high-quality education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and the successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a strong research program. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Ph.D. in Geology or related field; ABD candidates will be considered.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Ability to teach courses in environmental geology, environmental science, geographic information systems (GIS), critical zone science, and elective courses in the applicant’s field of expertise.
College-level teaching experience is desired
Postdoctoral research experience is desired.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental geology, environmental science, critical zone science, and geographic information systems (GIS)
Teach introductory-level geology courses as needed.
Develop and sustain a productive, externally funded research program.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
Contribute through service activities, such as participating in school, college, and university-wide committees, assisting with recruitment efforts, and advising majors.
