Postdoctoral scholar position in seismology and machine learning

The Graduate School of Oceanography at University of Rhode Island (URI) seeks a postdoctoral scholar in the fields of seismology, geophysics, or oceanography.  The selected candidate must have strong background in AI/ML and good communication skills. 

 

Funding for the position is guaranteed for 1.5 years with continued funding possible with good performance.  The salary is in the range of $75-80K, plus benefits.  The candidate must be able to start by January 2026.  

 

The position is affiliated with the newly established Institute for AI & Computational Research (IACR, https://iacr.uri.edu) at the University.  In addition to continue to conduct research in seismology, geophysics, or oceanography, the postdoctoral scholar will contribute towards the activities that advance the mission of the Institute. Those activities may include: 

• Collaboration with researchers from across URI on various technical projects, 
• Supporting grant proposals, 
• Supervising AI/ML student projects, and 
• Supporting other Institute events and activities.
