JOB SUMMARY
Global & Computational Seismology group at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Colorado School of Mines, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on large-scale full-waveform modeling of seismic data on high-performance computing and Cloud environments as part of the NSF funded SCOPED (Seismic COmputational Platform for Empowering Discovery) project. Potential projects are multi-scale full-waveform modeling of source and structure with passive sources (i.e., earthquake and ambient noise) and heterogeneous data types (i.e., from broadband instruments, DAS, MERMAIDs, etc.), optimizing full-waveform inversion workflows for large-scale HPC simulations and datasets (automatization of workflows, implementing machine learning algorithms, etc). The successful candidate’s responsibilities will involve both theoretical, method, and technical developments as well as applications of them to multi-scale seismic-modeling problems. The position is available immediately for a year with a potential extension of another year upon satisfactory progress. To apply for the position, please send a cover letter stating your background and research interests, a full CV including the publication list, and the contact information of two or three referees.
