The Boise State Department of Geosciences is seeking applications for an outstanding PhD student to start in Fall 2025. The student's first two years of their stipend, tuition, and health insurance will be funded by a scholarship provided by the College of Arts and Sciences. Funding for the remainder of their PhD will be provided through a research assistantship and/or teaching assistantship.

The scholarship is open to students interested in earning a PhD in Geosciences or Geophysics. It is recommended that potential faculty advisors, listed below, are contacted in advance in order to formulate project ideas.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and must be submitted through the Boise State Graduate College's application portal by Monday, May 12th to receive consideration. Although the application portal will limit the starting semester to Spring 2026, preference will be given to students who can start in Fall 2025 and the desired start date should be clearly stated in their statement of interest. The student start date will be modified upon acceptance as needed.

Please reach out to the Department of Geosciences' Graduate Program Chair, Dr. Ellyn Enderlin (ellyne...@boisestate.edu), if you have questions about the scholarship. Questions about the application process should be directed to geog...@boisestate.edu and questions about research projects should be directed to potential advisors.
