Salary Range: $24.37-$35.37/hour (depending on experience, skills, and qualifications relative to the job requirements)

Position Summary
The Permitting Assistant will support the permitting team and program managers with renewing NOTA permits. The incumbent works closely with the Senior Contracts and Permitting Manager and the NOTA Program Manager on permitting and landowner relations. The Permitting Assistant, Tier I is an ambassador who represents the organization’s values to scientists, private landowners, sponsors, private companies, public agencies, and other community members during the permitting process and is expected to strengthen relationships between these constituents and the organization.
Details of Responsibilities
General Essential Job Duties:
• Receives and processes permit applications; facilitating renewals with adequate lead time prior to expiration.
• Contact and work with landowners to renew expiring permits via various communication methods (e.g., email, telephone, field visits, etc.).
• Maintain, compile data, and organize permit and operational spreadsheets (e.g., fees, expiration dates, renewals, landowner information, etc.).
• Coordinate site access and secured location access and arrange site logistics.
• Process purchase requests and facilitate check requests with Administration staff.
• Light field work.
• Plans and travels, as necessary, to meet with landowners
• Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the successful operation of the business.
Specialized Essential Job Duties:
• Maintain liability insurance certificates.
• Perform essential customer relations duties to continue building goodwill between the organization and the landowner.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
• Perform duties independently under direct supervision.
• Interacts effectively and efficiently with EarthScope staff, community and partnering organizations.
• Foster a professional culture through the use of strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with other team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and with best practices.
Qualifications _Tier 1
Hourly Range - $24.37 - $29.79
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Associate degree in physical science, engineering, English, construction, or related field.
OR
• Two (2) years of administrative/permitting experience.
AND
• Experience using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications Tier 2
Hourly Range - $29.79 - $35.37
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in physical science, engineering, English, construction, or related field.
• One (1) year related administrative and/or permitting work experience.
OR
• Three (3) years of administrative/permitting experience.
AND
• Experience using MS Office Suite, including SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working with public entities or with permitting in the construction field.
• Experience with GIS and public record databases.
• Knowledge of Federal land use permitting applications
• Knowledge of SQL and database management.

Other Requirements:
• Appropriate availability consistent with EarthScope established practices and norms; hours may exceed 40 hours per week, particularly when traveling.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Travel up to 20% within the U.S.
