The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full time, 9-month appointment at the rank of Visiting Lecturer II or III to begin August 1, 2024 or January 6, 2025. The department seeks to hire a specialist in Geoscience Education. Specifically, the department seeks a Visiting Lecturer II or III with knowledge and experience teaching in introductory Geology and Environmental Science courses. 

 

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the undergraduate laboratory sections for the introductory geoscience classes. All Lecturers are reviewed annually. Workload is determined by the department Chair and University policies.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• M.S. in Geoscience Education or related field completed by start date of appointment (August 1, 2024) 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A Ph.D. in Geoscience Education or related field 
  • Demonstrated experience and strength in teaching at the undergraduate level 
  • Ability to contribute to other core areas in the department 
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
