The Seismic Imaging and Monitoring Lab in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) invites applications for one position at the level of postdoctoral researcher or research assistant/associate professor. The successful candidate will be supported and mentored by Prof. Hejun Zhu.

Our research group focuses on:

1. Developing and applying advanced seismic imaging techniques to investigate Earth’s physical properties and tectonic evolution.
2. Monitoring crustal responses to environmental changes such as groundwater fluctuations, ice sheet melting, and other dynamic surface processes.

The selected candidate will contribute to projects involving continental-scale seismic tomography of crustal and mantle structures, as well as active and passive source monitoring of environmental processes.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Seismology, Geophysics, or a closely related field (must be awarded by the time of appointment).
Experience in seismic modeling and imaging (e.g., full waveform inversion), ambient noise analysis, or related techniques.
Proficiency in high-performance computing (HPC) environments is highly desirable.

Appointment Details:
The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
