We are seeking an assistant professor who will play a leading role in multi-parameter observations of volcanoes, primarily based on seismological and geodetic observations and analyses, while also incorporating other data such as infrasound and video imaging. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing physical models of volcanic phenomena through integration with other disciplines such as geochemistry and electromagnetism, and for promoting research toward a better understanding of magma supply processes and the evolution of eruption sequences. Furthermore, this position is expected to contribute to the development of new observation technologies and to foster the next-generation researchers through graduate education. Upon employment, the successful candidate will be required to acquire a certain level of Japanese conversational ability necessary for field observation duties within Japan.
