Dear Colleagues,

The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) in Trinidad & Tobago is seeking an outstanding Research Fellow (Volcanologist/Geologist) to join our multidisciplinary team working on volcanic hazards across the Eastern Caribbean and Lesser Antilles.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine volcanological research, fieldwork, multidisciplinary volcano monitoring, hazard assessment and operational response in one of the world's most volcanically active regions.

The successful candidate will contribute to:

🌋 Research on Caribbean volcanic systems, eruptive history and magmatic processes
🗺️ Geological field investigations, mapping and stratigraphic analysis
📊 Integration of geological, geophysical and geochemical monitoring data
⚠️ Volcanic hazard assessment and scientific advisory services
🚨 Monitoring and response during periods of volcanic unrest or eruption
📚 Independent and collaborative research, publications and externally funded projects

We are seeking candidates with:
• A PhD in Volcanology, Geology, Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline
• At least 3 years' relevant postdoctoral/professional experience involving active or potentially active volcanic systems
• Experience integrating geological observations with geophysical and/or geochemical datasets
• A strong peer-reviewed publication record
• Expertise in volcanic stratigraphy/eruption reconstruction, geological mapping, petrology and/or volcanic hazard assessment

Experience in a volcano observatory, hazard-monitoring institution, eruption response, GIS, hazard/risk communication or multidisciplinary volcanic monitoring would be an advantage.

📅 Application deadline: 30 August 2026
