Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona seeks a postdoctoral researcher in computational seismology with a focus on geo-hazards and hydrological applications. The postdoc will work on an NSF-funded project aimed at understanding fluid-driven processes in fault zones and their relationship to deformation using dense seismic arrays installed in the US Gulf Coast region.

The initial appointment would be for one year. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in geophysics or a related field at the time of appointment. Previous experience in any of the following areas is desirable: microearthquake analysis, seismic tomography, analysis of nodal seismic datasets, numerical simulations of the seismic wavefield, high-performance computing, and machine learning applications in observational seismology. The candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively on projects requiring initiative and strong organizational skills, and to supportively collaborate with students.

To apply, a CV, a short statement (2-3 pages) of research interests and experience related to the topic above, and the names and contact information of three professional references are needed. The start date is flexible, but September 2024 is preferred. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

For more information, contact Dr. Patricia Persaud (pper...@arizona.edu).
