We are excited to share the following job opportunities at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources/ New Mexico Tech.

1.     Postdoctoral Research Associate in Seismology

The New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources is seeking applicants for a Post-doctoral Research Scientist position for induced seismicity studies in New Mexico. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Geophysics or related field, and will have demonstrated experience in seismic imaging and inversion or machine learning applications in earthquake studies.

Initial appointment will be for one year, and is then renewable for a second year depending on progress and availability of funding. 2.     Research Analyst (Seismology)

The New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources is seeking applicants for a Research analyst (seismology) for the New Mexico Tech seismic network.

Initial appointment will be for one year, and is then renewable for a second year depending on progress and availability of funding. Responsibilities:

       Earthquake catalog creation and distribution

       Support, maintenance, and tuning of other existing products

       Contribute to internal documentation/knowledge base

       Data visualization, quality assessment, and reporting

       Respond to outages, and earthquake sequences, during non-business hours as needed.

Required qualifications:

       Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Computer Science, or a related field

       Basic knowledge of seismic wave propagation

       Demonstrated Linux computer scripting and Python programming skills

       Ability to meet deadlines and deliverables

       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired qualifications:

       Master's degree in Geoscience, Geophysics, Computer Science, or a related field

       Familiarity with SeisComp or Earthworm

       Experience with seismic equipment and fieldwork
