Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Fellow in passive-source seismology on a full-time, fixed-term project for 1 year, with subsequent renewal for a total of two years contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the university, and the availability of resources. The position will be based at the Center for Earthquake Research and Information of the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN.
The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant and collaborative research group within a center with world-class expertise in all areas of Seismology to pursue research on past and ongoing intraplate phenomena in South America. Research tasks will build on a wealth of unique passive-seismic datasets acquired over the past 15 years in NE Brazil and will include - but not be limited to – seismic tomography (body wave, surface wave, ambient noise), receiver function imaging, and anisotropic analysis.
The successful candidate is expected to work independently as well as in collaboration with others, regularly exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of tasks that contribute to project goals, and prepare technical reports, summaries and protocols for quantitative analyses.
Applications must include a CV, a short statement (2-3 pages) of research interests demonstrating experience in analysis of passive-seismic data, and the names and contact information of three professional references. Start date is flexible, but September 2026 is preferred. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
