IDMR is an interdisciplinary research institute that focuses on hazard mitigation and research with a growing development in the field of Earth science. It is affiliated to Sichuan University, one of the top universities in China. It is located in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province, the home of great pandas. Sitting in the east edge of Himalaya, Sichuan is one of the most tectonically active places on Earth and a natural laboratory for earthquake research.
An introduction of Geoazur:
Geoazur is a large academic research laboratory (about 180 people) focused on Earth science. It is located near Nice, France, in Sophia-Antipolis, a leading European technology park (2,500 companies and 4,500 researchers) between the Mediterranean Sea and the Maritime Alps mountains. Geoazur is part of Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) and Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur (OCA) and is also affiliated to CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and IRD (French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development).
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) a public research university, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is Hong Kong’s second-oldest university. The university operates in both English and Chinese. Four Nobel laureates are associated with the university, and it is the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong with recipients of the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal and Veblen Prize sitting as faculty in residence. The Earth System Science Programme in the Faculty of Science emphasizes basic sciences of the Earth System. Adoption of a system approach facilitates a fundamental understanding of various components of the Earth System and their complex interactions including the causes, effects and feedback within a unified framework.
