4 RESEARCH/POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS IN DEEP EARTH & PLANETARY SEISMOLOGY IN AUSTRALIA – ARC LAUREATE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Four Laureate Postdoctoral Fellow positions have been advertised to work on the deep interiors of the Earth and other planets in my research group as part of a recently funded Australian Laureate Fellowship. What makes these positions unique is that they last up to 5 years, include an annual workshop in Canberra, and provide ample travel funds for national and international conferences. We will work closely with the ANU Gender Institute and previous Laureate Fellows to ensure we draw upon successful evidence-based methods to promote sustainable careers for women scientists and scientists from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Here are some excerpts from the ANU jobs page. For more details, please see the full position description below.

THE POSITION (THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, RESEARCH SCHOOL OF EARTH SCIENCES, GEOPHYSICS)

"Join Professor Hrvoje Tkalčić’s Global & Planetary Seismology Group to advance deep Earth and planetary core science using next-generation seismic imaging and new data. With guaranteed 5-year funding, you will employ seismic wavefield and correlation methods to map Earth’s core, explore its interactions with upper layers, and extend insights to the Moon, Mars, and icy moons—directly supporting scientific institutions, space agencies, and industry.

Open to all nationalities; visa & relocation supported. The Laureate Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to undertake work in all three areas of academic activity – research, education, and service (including outreach).”

THE PERSON

" You will hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in seismology, geophysics, computer/data science, or planetary science. You will have demonstrated expertise in global seismology, particularly relating to the Earth’s core, core–mantle boundary, or mantle structure. Proficiency in waveform processing, programming (e.g. Python, ObsPy, SPECFEM), and forward or inverse modelling is essential, along with a record of high-quality publications and conference presentations."
