We invite you to submit abstracts to the 2026 AGU Fall Meeting NS001 - Advances in Active Remote Sensing for Hydrology and Terrestrial Ecosystems:

Session Description: The changing climate is driving significant and visible impacts across the cryosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere, demanding novel earth observations of these dynamic, spatiotemporally varying processes. NASEM decadal surveys have motivated the use of active source remote sensing methods to improve the monitoring of physical changes and processes across the Earth's surface, including: global water storage, soil moisture, and water levels; topography, surface deformation, and change; monitoring of land ice, sea ice, and snow cover; vegetation structure, canopy water fraction, and disturbance processes. We invite abstracts using observed or simulated data from active sensors, including but not limited to InSAR, tomography, polarimetry, scatterometry, altimetry, laser mass gravimetry, GNSS, and LiDAR, demonstrating advancements in monitoring terrestrial landscapes, topography, ecosystems, and hydrology. Analyses of data from current satellites, such as NISAR, SWOT, CYGNSS, Sentinel-1, GEDI/EDGE, and ICESat-2, as well as research-grade airborne systems like UAVSAR, DopplerScatt, and Rongowai, are particularly encouraged.
