EarthScope staff and community,

I am pleased to announced that Susan Stanford has been appointed as the EPIC Operations and IS Facilities Manager after a rigorous internal search process.  Stanford will begin her new position on Monday, March 31st.  Susan, known to many as Suze, has served in several capacities since joining the PASSCAL team at New Mexico Tech in 2020.  Since the IRIS and UNAVCO merger to form EarthScope and the Instrumentation Services reorganization in 2023, she has been the Field Operations Department, Polar Field Team sub-unit manager, supervising a group of SAGE and GAGE polar engineers as well as deploying to McMurdo station to support engineering staff as they work in the deep field.  She was integral to this past season’s successful upgrade of the Erebus Backbone Network.  Prior to joining NMT, Suze worked at McMurdo supporting cargo and logistical operations.  She holds a BS in Geography and also is a Professional Land Surveyor.  Please join me in congratulating Suze on her promotion to Engineering Manager III and her new appointment as the EPIC Operations and IS Facilities Manager. I look forward to working with her as part of the IS management team.

Regards,

Glen S. Mattioli, Ph.D.
