Here's a look at everything we have planned for the virtual 2026 NSF NGF Community Science Conference:

Community Panel

Lin Shen (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory)
Donna Shillington (Northern Arizona University)
The panel will lead discussion of both how the existing community is responding to the changing geophysical landscape and also what is needed from the broader scientific community and its supporting facilities to most effectively advance our science.
Research Showcase
Taking the place of a traditional poster session is a short 3 minute video or 5 slide presentation, with synchronous and asynchronous tools to facilitate conversation.
If you indicate that you're interested in presenting in the Research Showcase during registration, remember to return to the conference web page and send us your video or slides using the submission form.
Discussion Sessions
We have a day set aside for Special Interest Group sessions, including updates on different areas of the new NSF National Geophysical Facility. These sessions are spread out to make it easier to attend multiple, and they'll also be recorded.
Negative Results Session
For something a little different, we're organizing an informal session of short talks about things that... didn't quite work out. Negative results are important, too! Consider sharing a "fun" lesson learned or interesting dead end. (We'll even have a small gift for all the presenters.)
Distributed Schedule
We took advantage of the flexibility offered by a virtual event and spread the schedule out over two weeks, hopefully making it easier for you to participate and avoid conference overload. All sessions will be recorded and available to watch immediately if you're unable to join live.
You can view the complete schedule on the conference web page. We hope to see you there!
