Dear EarthScope Colleagues,

It’s official - SciX is here! As a practicing geophysicist, I'm excited to finally share this incredible platform with my own research community. After months of development, testing, and feedback from many scientists, librarians and data repositories, we’re thrilled to launch Science Explorer, or SciX to its friends, out into the world. Please check out our press release!

So, what is SciX? Think of it as your one-stop platform for exploring research across Earth, environmental and space sciences, including planetary science, heliophysics, geology, geophysics, atmospheric sciences and oceanography.

From tracking solar storms, to uncovering the secrets of distant planets, to understanding the changing dynamics of our own Earth, SciX is designed to be your research co-pilot. Watch our launch video here, and learn more about what SciX can do here or check out our Quick Start Guide.

Because you don’t know what you don’t know. SciX helps uncover those underexplored but interrelated areas of research that might enable the breakthrough you’ve been looking for.

As part of our launch, we're running focused half-day workshops at the GSA, AGU and the Ocean Sciences meeting. We were able to reduce the cost of the GSA workshop to only $35. If you are at the GSA this year, please consider attending our workshop on the afternoon of October 18th! You will find it well worth your time as your interactions with scientific literature will never be the same again. Please also find the SciX booth at the Exhibitor Hall of these meetings!

And yes, even though we launched, this is only the beginning of the journey! We're still actively ingesting Earth science documents, including NASA proposal abstracts, decadal surveys, workshop reports, and the data and software landing pages. Like good wine, our system will only get better as it ages.

Please check out the website (which is completely open) and stay tuned for the upcoming webinars and workshops on SciX. Looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming meetings as part of the SciX Team!

Best wishes,

Anna Kelbert, Ph.D.
