What to Know

If you signed up to present in our Research Showcase, please make sure you have finalized your slides or sent us your video link for your presentation before the start of the conference. At that point, presentations will be visible for all attendees.

Look Ahead

We are excited to see the progress and advances from our community in geophysical instrumentation, computation, and methodology. Here’s a look at tomorrow’s agenda:

Welcome & Introductory Remarks 9:00 AM - 9:15 AM MT

Rebecca Bendick (EarthScope CEO) and Colleen Dalton (EarthScope Board of Directors)

Plenary Session #1 - Advances in Methodology 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM MT

Co-chairs: Rowena Lohman (Cornell University) and Eric Hetland (University of Michigan)

This plenary session highlights emerging methodologies for evaluating and integrating data in seismology, geodesy, magnetotellurics and/or near surface geophysics.

Speakers:

  • Frederik Simons (Princeton University): Through the Ocean, to the Mantle: MERMAIDs and C-DOGS
  • Jessica Fayne (University of Michigan): SWOT SAR and Water Surface Elevation Measurements Enable New Hydrological Observations
  • Burke Minsley (USGS): Expanding the use of airborne electromagnetic surveys for regional-scale studies: Acquisition, methods research, and application to multidisciplinary studies

Technical Session #1 - Methodological Advances for Geophysical Monitoring 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM MT

Co-chairs: Shujuan Mao (University of Texas at Austin) and Jiaxuan Li (University of Houston)

This technical session presents innovative methodological advancements and their applications across the fields of seismology, geodesy, magnetotellurics and/or near surface geophysics.

Speakers:

  • Haipeng Li (Stanford University): Fiber-Optic Seismic Full Waveform Monitoring of Groundwater Dynamics
  • Michael Steckler (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory): Seasonal cycles to decadal sedimentation and subsidence in coastal Bangladesh: Integrating field observations, GNSS, InSAR, and modeling
  • Daniel Trugman (University of Nevada, Reno): Systematic Biases in Earthquake Magnitude Estimates and How to Fix Them
  • Wenbo Wu (University of California Berkeley): Opportunities of emerging seismo-acoustic observing tools for seismic ocean thermometry

Research Showcase 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM MT
