The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Missouri–Columbia is recruiting one or two motivated M.S. students to work with Dr. Chuanming Liu, beginning Fall 2026.
The position is expected to be supported through teaching assistantships, which require participation in instructional activities. Funding through the teaching assistantship covers tuition, benefits, and a stipend. Research topics are flexible and will be developed
in consultation with Dr. Liu, broadly aligned with his research interests in seismic imaging and monitoring of subduction zones, large-scale strike-slip faults, and polar regions. Funding for research activities will be provided through internal funds.
International applicants should note that the University of Missouri policy requires English proficiency certification prior to serving as a teaching assistant. Due to this requirement, immediate TA support is currently limited to students from English-speaking
countries or to those who have previously served as a graduate teaching assistant at a university in an English-speaking country.
