for a Summer Research Internship focused on computational wave imaging
and scientific machine learning.

Research Focus Areas

Real-world challenges in geoscience, energy, and medicine

Physics-informed AI and advanced analytics for sustainable and health-focused solutions

Generative AI, computational wave imaging, and deep learning framework
Minimum Qualifications
-
Strong interest in scientific discovery and solving real-world problems in medical or wave imaging
-
Solid foundation in deep learning, including experience with diffusion models, GANs, CNNs, RNNs, or autoencoders

Proficiency with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
-
Some prior research experience, ideally with publications in AI or science venue

Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

Strong Python programming skills
Education Requirements

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in:

Computational Sciences, Geophysics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields

Preference given to students interested in pursuing a PhD in Data Science at UNC-Chapel Hill
