The Seismology Skill Building Workshop is a free online course designed to enhance scientific computing skills in seismology, tailored to undergraduate students and recent graduates in disciplines such as computer science, geophysics, geology, mathematics, physics, and engineering. The workshop accommodates anyone worldwide wishing to enhance their seismological computing skills, though it is introductory-level.
The 12-week online workshop includes weekly live webinar introductions of content, hands-on assignments, Slack discussions and peer engagement, and biweekly learning modules including tutorials.
The core topics covered include Generic Mapping Tools (GMT), Seismic Analysis Code (SAC) and other NSF SAGE data tools, waveform visualization and modeling, ObsPy, Jupyter notebooks, and GNSS data analysis.
