Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to submit an abstract to Session 29 – “Seismic Clustering and Stress Evolution in Complex Fault Systems: Insights from Geodesy, Geology, and Seismology” at the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission (ESC2026), taking place 6–11 September 2026 in Istanbul, Turkiye.
ESC2026 will bring together seismologists, geodesists, geologists, engineers, and multidisciplinary researchers at one of history's most significant geophysical laboratories: Istanbul. We warmly encourage you to share your latest research, data, and perspectives with the international community.
Recent seismic sequences worldwide have highlighted the complex nature of tectonic loading and fault interaction, where stress accumulation activates interconnected structures and generates migrating earthquake clusters. This session aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and integrate geophysical observations with geological and structural data to improve our understanding of crustal deformation, earthquake clustering, and seismic hazard assessment.
We welcome contributions on topics including:
• Pre- and post-seismic activity of moderate-to-large earthquakes
• Earthquake clustering and hidden/blind fault systems
• Stress transfer modeling and fault interaction
• Integration of GNSS/InSAR with seismicity
• Machine-learning approaches to spatiotemporal seismicity
• Seismic hazard in regions of distributed deformation
📝 Abstract submission deadline: 15 March 2026

We encourage contributions from researchers at all career stages and would appreciate you sharing this invitation within your network. We look forward to your submissions and to welcoming you to ESC2026.
